Platinum / Palladium
In 2002 I was fortunate enough to see Alfred Stieglitz: Known and Unknown at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. Being firmly entrenched in the high contrast, high D-max of silver gelatin prints, I really didn't understand the beauty of the platinum/palladium print until I saw this show. I vividly remember a pronounced 3-D look of the O'Keeffe hands with thimble in this show. I was able to take a class in Pt/Pd printing at Palomar College in 2005 and started showing my prints in 2006. I have since taught the process at Palomar College four times before COVID 19 hit and suspended all lab classes at the school.
